Tuan Sanh’s Ao Dai – Bringing the beauty of embroidery to APEC’s Costumes 2017
The APEC 2017 Silk Color was held December 7 to 17, 2018 at the Pho Co Exchange Center, Hanoi. This event introduces the APEC 2017 costumes set by a group of artisans, including Embroidering bags by Vu Anh Tuan (Tuan Sanh Tailor); Weaving silk by Nguyen Trong Tu (Dung – Tu’ Silk); Sewing clothes by Do Manh Hung (Anh Hung Tailor)
What is APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting 2017?
APEC Vietnam 2017 is a series of conferences of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (Economic Leaders’ Meeting), taking place from early December 2016 to November 2017 in Da Nang.
The conference was held with the message: “Create motivation, Cultivate the future”. This is the second time Vietnam is the host of APEC and the organization.
APEC Silk Color Exhibition 2017 – Honoring Vietnamese silk
The opening ceremony of the APEC Silk Exhibition 2017 took place on December 7, 2018, in a rustic way with a high-class product line made from many traditional Vietnamese brands and the presence of artisans who made the APEC 2017 costumes.
The APEC 2017 Silk Color Exhibition introduces the APEC 2017 costumes by a group of artisans with samples, including Embroidering bags by Vu Anh Tuan (Tuan Sanh Tailor); Weaving silk by Nguyen Trong Tu (Dung – Tu’s Silk); Sewing clothes by Do Manh Hung (Anh Hung Tailor).
Those costumes have been made with all enthusiasm, honor and responsibility by artisans.
Tuan Sanh’s Ao Dai – The quintessence of embroidery
Being a part of the APEC 2017 Costume Designers, Tuan Sanh’s Ao Dai has made 8 models of Ao Dai and short shirts with Lotus Flowers, which were selected as the symbol of the APEC 2017 costumes by The Selection Council.
The Lotus Flower embroidered in Ao Dai has contributed to preserving and promoting the heritage when bringing traditional into contemporary, bringing new vitality to the existing heritage history.
The models of Lotus Flower’s embroidered shirts are completely hand-embroidered by the representative of the Tuan Sanh’s Ao Dai brand – Mr. Vu Anh Tuan and his associates. Their products meet the strictest requirements from the selector in terms of techniques and arts with elegant, luxurious.
Mr. Vu Anh Tuan said: “Having delicate sewing and embroidery products, artisans have to do it with all passion, perseverance, patience, and high skills. The embroidered Tuan Sanh’s Lotus Flower Ao Dai is usually completed in over 2 months, sometimes up to 9 months by 6 artisans and 1 assistant.
This is the passion and hard work during the creative process of a young artist, who always desires to bring the image of Vietnam to international, contributing to preserving and developing traditional handicrafts through high-class products.
Dung – Tu’s Silk – The beauty of Vietnamese silk
Since February 2016, when APEC 2017 Conference started to implement held in Vietnam, Vietnam National Fine Arts, Photography n Exhibition; Ministry of Culture, Sports n Tourism of Vietnam has ordered silk products of Dung – Tu’s Silk with high-quality to select of fabric samples for Senior Leaders of APEC.
Through the long process of preparing, researching, weaving, and completing silk samples. Since September 2017, Dung – Tu’s Silk has woven 18 high-class handmade silk samples at the high request of Vietnam National Fine Arts, Photography n Exhibition; having 02 samples of blue and white silk color that were honored to be used as the costume material for the Leaders of APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting. Those products also were a gift to the heads of the delegation from the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
Many silk products include bag silk, coat silk were delicately dyed silk lining. In particular, the restored woven scarf according to the ancient silk pattern was ordered by the Prime Minister’s wife, as a gift for the husband or wife of the heads of the delegation.
Anh Hung Tailor – Proud of traditional sewing
Since March 2016, when the APEC 2017 Summit was initially implemented, Anh Hung Tailor has collaborated with designer painters and silk weavers to research and sew samples of costumes for submission to the Selection Committee.
In September 2017, the designs of silk fabric samples were approved by the President, Anh Hung Tailor was officially approved by Vietnam National Fine Arts, Photography n Exhibition and Ministry of Culture, Sports n Tourism of Vietnam selected as the Garment Artisan for Senior Leaders of APEC 2017.
Anh Hung Tailor has successfully completed the products. The brand has ensured compliance with the approved design, schedule, and quality. The costume was a solemn gift to Senior Leaders of APEC by the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
Brands made the APEC 2017 Costumes including Tuan Sanh’s Ao Dai, Dung – Tu’s Silk, and Anh Hung Tailor have overcome a lot of pressure and challenges to ensure the quality and reputation of the Vietnamese silk brand. The products also receive the trust and appreciation of Party and State, international friends.
